Great Movie

I watched a great movie / documentary a few weeks ago and I really feel compelled to share this experience with the world.

I´m very interested in religion and how it runs our societies and lives.

Then I watched a rerun of a Conan O´Brien and Bill Maher was on it talking about this very subject.

So I got the movie and watched it. It was so good I had to watch it in a few sittings cause I had to pause like every 15 min to digest what I had just seen.

Here´s one trailer for the movie:

You can see it in HD here as well.

I´ve known for a while that americans don´t believe in evolution. But to be reminded of it in this documentary made me upset.
Less than 40% of americans don´t believe in evolution (25% amongst americans who go to church). To say this is scary is an understatement.

When a Vice Presidential candidate calls the war in Iraq "A task from God" human kind are in some deep ass water.
Here´s a quote from Sara Palin:
- "Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan."
During that speech, Palin also promoted a $30-billion natural gas pipeline project, stating;
“God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built.”

Here´s a youtube clip where she talks about God´s will to build a 30 billion dollar pipeline in Alaska.

And here´s the clip where she says it´s God´s plan to fight a war in Iraq.

What makes is right for Sarah Palin to fight a holy war (were hundreds of thousands of civilians have been killed)?
To me she and the Bush admin are doing the same thing as the Taliban. Fighting a holy war. The main difference is that the Bush admin are some of the most powerful people in the world and the Taliban are a small group of people from remote locations in the middle east.

Matt Damon has a sweet quote about Palin´s faith.
- "I want to know if she thinks dinosaurs walked on earth 4000 years ago, I want to know that, I really do.. cause she´s going to have the nuclear codes"

Bush has called the war "a crusade" and one of America´s top generals has called the was "a war against Satan".
- "The enemy that has come against our nation is a spiritual enemy. His name is Satan. And if you do not believe that Satan is real, you are ignoring the same Bible that tells you about God."

The american motto "In God We Trust" and the use of "For God And Country" doesn´t seem very rational nor humble. Yet it comes up all the time from people with authority.

Here´s 2 min clip from the movie:

Religion by Bill from godthealmighty on Vimeo.

And here´s 6 min version with similar content as in the clip above:

Religion by Bill, longer version from godthealmighty on Vimeo.

This clip where Bill confronts a Senator on evolution and states that he has a problem with people running his country who believes in Adam and Eve and a talking snake is pretty entertaining:

Mark Pryor (D) Senator, Arkansas. On evolution and not needing to pass an iq test to get into the senate. from godthealmighty on Vimeo.

For more clips in Bill and this movie go here.

The cover for the movie has to do with a pice of toast that was sold on Ebay cause there was something that looked like Jesus on it.

If you made it this far you should be intrigued enough to actually watch this comedy/documentary.

If there´s anything I´d pray for it would be for every school in America to show this movie to their students. Although that´s obviously very unlikely. Especially in the Bible Belt.

Bye now.

i don't think this post is anti american - all material published do exist... if stating facts that can be unpleasing is anti-american then you're close to the censorship praticed during the launch of the iraqi war campaign where opponents where called anti patriots/anti american.

I´m not anti american.

I´m just really into this movie that shows americans and their relationship with religion. A movie that´s made by an american and prolly paid for by some other americans.
