Happy late birthday to me.

So I noticed I haven´t blogged anything about me turning 30 (feb 15)... it might have something to do with me being in denial.

But 30 is the new 20.

Here are some pics from feb 15:

I had some swedes over this week. So me and the swedes plus my filmer Spring Break Jake and DC Mtn Lab handyman Nick took some of the DC sleds for a ride. 4 of them were brand new, so they needed to break in. We drove around for a couple of hours, got stuck a few times, jumped some jumps. It was a good time.

My b-day was on a thursday, so I figured it would be more fun to have a party on the 16th (friday). Here are some pics from the 16th:

We started out at Brighton for some pow. It was really good pow. I told the swedes that Utah had no snow (didn´t snow for four weeks prior to their arrival) but they got lucky and scored some pow. Brighton had maybe 50 cm this day. And I was on a 154 cm board, not smart.

Then I went and bought snacks. beer, alcohol and wine coolers for the party. The swedes found a helium balloon in my closet that said Happy Birthday, pretty funny. It´s still chillin in the ceiling, 6 weeks later. Maybe 15 or 20 people showed up and we later decided to go to Sidebar in Park City. The Roots were playing in Park City too, but tickets were 40$ or something. It was a fun night.

I didn´t have any riders in town to film, so after hearding that Snowbird didn´t open half of their runs on friday I started to sober up and drink water so I could make the 6am wake up call (went to sleep at 3.30). Most of the swedes were game to go, but David wasn´t feeling that great. He thought drinking wine until 3 in the morning would do wonders for his hangover. He also lost Hjalles cell phone in the pow the day before. Right after I told everyone to zip up their pockets.

We made it in the 2nd chair and had an awesome day (only rode until 12.30 or something). David isn´t in the group pic because he was probably puking at the lodge. I found my friends Chris Saydah and Noah Brandon, they are locals here and took us for some sweet runs. One of the best runs was on the next door resort Alta. Alta is a faschist resort that only allows skiing. But we broke the law and got some sweet turns that the stupid skiers don´t even ride.

So that was my birthday weekend. Not lame. Can´t wait to turn 40.

March 19

Haven´t done much. Waiting for the doctor to call me back... The blonde finns came back today, only for a few hours though.

It´s hot here today again. The news said that today is an average day in late may... so spring came 2 month early, sweet.

Listening to hockey on the web, I hate listening on the radio... I need visuals.. but, but.

I´ve been watching Entourge (tv series based in LA) with some of the riders here and Iikka is pretty set on renting a place in LA this summer. Here are some places we found for rent, not cheap..

Maybe this stack of cash they found this week in a drug bust would help find a place in LA.

Hopefully I´ll go back home to Sweden soon. Can´t wait. Need to rest my neck, hard to relax and not work here.

St Patricks Day

So this weekend was St Patty´s. It´s just another holiday/excuse for people to get drunk. Everyone is irish and everything is green, how fun!

Even the sake at the sushi bar was green, come on.

Not much has happened... it´s really warm here and I´m in front of the computer was too much.

Going to the doctor tomorrow, hopefully that will work out well.

There was a big snowboard contest called the Us Open this weekend. It was on the east coast and there was a little scandal there.
Shaun White (olympic gold winner and all around mega-winner) placed 3rd in the slopestyle, although Heikki Sorsa was in third place.
The judges even said Heikki got 3rd, but the scoreboard guy thought different and put him above Heikki with like 0.05 points or something.
Pretty sweet scandal I think.

Souls Of Mischief concert

So I sent away 2-3 hours of film today. Hopefully I can go and transfer that in LA early next week.

The finns went for a 2 day so Cal vacation. I considered going there too, but I have a lot of stuff to take care of.
Before they left I filmed a few rolls in my new camera just to make sure it/lenses work.

At 8-ish Spring Break Jake called up and said that Souls Of Mischief are playing across the street. I tried to get my swedish friends Jakob, Hampus and Anders to go but they were to tired from the little Vegas vacation. Here´s´a pic they took of a truck going 80 mph.

Lauri making drilled kickflips for me outside the house.

I got a new super8 camera in the mail. Now I have three. One broken, one is Eddie´s and one I guess we´ll see if it works...

Souls concert.

Jake Price needed some burgers after the show so I drove from the bar to our place via Wendy´s... My driving skills aren´t that good. But it was only a 500 meter drive.

Got some new toys

Got a new phone and a new 16mm camera in the mail today. Fun!

Been filming Lauri, Iikka and Devun a little bit. It´s been super warm, maybe 25 celcius. The DC house is melting fast.

Going out tonight I think, just a little. I don´t wanna bumb in to any people with my neck really.

Skellefteå AIK won the hockey game today against Sur-Löven with 6-2, that was pretty sweet.

Today is 9 years and 335 days away from me being 40.

Friday

Not much happened today. Bought a $5000 16mm camera and a new cell phone. That was fun. Especially since the airline lost that exact camera a while back.

Neck is ok.

Things could always be worse I guess:

Post broken neck

I just want to say thanks for all the emails, phone calls etc. I really appreciate it.

I´m doing ok. I´m very happy that I´m in ok shape and that I can still walk around and stuff. I´ve been up at the DC house the last couple of days to shoot a little. But I only shoot with my (actually Eddie´s) Super8 camera. But I get tired easily.
So today my friend Eddie took off fo a 9 plane 45 hours round trip to Milan Italy, where he´s only staying for 30 hours... makes sense uh? I was supposed to go with him, but I can´t really travel (esp in coach) in my current condition. Not for that short of a trip anyway.

I slept almost 11 hours last night, which was nice. I have a to-do list that´s VERY long, so I´m catching up with some stuff, like getting a new cell phone
( well until this one comes out www.velvetpuffin.com/video/video.jsp?vid='14' )

Going to watch some tv now. My friend Jakob dropped by with new episodes of Entourage, Weeds etc. I already watched the last episode of Prison Break today, sucha good episode.

No pics for a while, camera broke.

Here´s my boss Ken´s blog, he´s in Mexico at a rally:

Here´s a video fom New York, it´s a few weeks old. My buddy Eddie won it:

Broken neck

So yesterday started out pretty sweet. Todd was gonna shed the Lab and I got Hampus and Jakob (friends from Sweden) and Anders (photdawg) to come ride as well.

After filming a few shots me and Anders walked to the side of a table top (where the snowshreddes fly over) and then I heard someone yell. Not really understanding why they were yelling it took me a sec to look up the hill... and yeah, there was a dude just about to land on me. I just got a glimse of the board before it hit my head. He drifted like 15 feet to the side from where his landing was and I didn´t even see him on the slope before he dropped in.

So after about 1 min of laying in the snow I felt that my neck was hurt. I could barely move it.
We called an ambulance and they showed up with a fire truck+ambulance.

Spent 6 hours in the hosptial on a rock hard sheet of platsic before I could call for a pick up.

So one of my vertebrae´s is in two pieces. The one that sticks out the most. I have this brace on which sucks. No filming, biking, snowboarding, lifting, backpacks etc for 6 weeks... Not that great for the movie...

The doctors said I was lucky. I guess paralyzation is pretty common when you hit your neck this bad.

Bummed.
